Unwanted astigmatism is reduced to the minimum and pushed to the parts of the lens that are, most of the times, beveled out.
It is an hard design calculated on nominal power and is intended for people especially sensible to power variations in critical areas (Distance and Near), that have perhaps refused PALs in the past.
